Hayward AquaNaut Wheel Hub 400 Overview!
Hello ePoolSupply supporters and fellow blog enthusiasts. Back with you all again to go over a particular suction side cleaner but more importantly one of its many parts. The cleaner I am referring to is the Hayward AquaNaut 400 and the part we are going to go over is the Wheel Hub (PVX051-236). This part is vital to cleaners’ success rate of pulling multiple forms of dirt and debris from the bottom surface of your pool. It also works with other surrounding parts to make sure the AquaNaut 400 packs a powerful cleaning punch.
Brief History
The AquaNaut series of automatic pool cleaners were the first all-terrain clog-eliminating suctions introduced to our fun and amazing pool market and to this day remain the best in their class. These products are available in two- or four-wheel drive models but for today we will be discussing the 4-wheel model. This cleaner was designed with patented technologies to deliver superior power, traction, balance, and performance for traditional non-diving pools of different shapes, sizes, flow rates, and of course debris types. The AquaNaut 400 also features patented self-adjusting variable vanes known as V-Flex technology, which automatically adjusts to allow for larger debris like rocks or sticks to pass through without any interruption to the cleaning process unlike other suction cleaners out there. Because of this design maximum, suction power can be delivered at virtually any flow while providing a clog-free clean covering of the pool floor, walls, and hard-to-reach coves.
Handles Large Debris Without Clogging
- Patented V-Flex variable vane turbine technology eliminates clogs and maximizes power at almost any flow.
- Perfect for use with variable-speed pool pumps.
Expertly Navigates Any Surface
- Patented high-traction tires with rugged treads provide superior climbing power and motion on all surfaces.
Maintains Constant Suction
- Patented adjustable roller skirt maintains optimal suction on uneven surfaces.
Advanced Steering Capability
- Multiple pre-programmed steering sequences ensure complete pool coverage.
Optimal Suction at Almost Any Flow
- Three easily interchangeable throats improve debris passage and suction performance, making it ideal for use with variable speed pool pumps.
What is the Purpose of the Wheel Hub?
This part is designed to spin while allowing the tires to help the cleaner grip and move along the bottom surface of the pool, as well as climb up and down the pool walls. This provides a deeper and more thorough cleaning for the entire surface of the pool. Just like the wheel retainer clips, there are 2 of these parts and they are placed two on each side of the cleaner and locked into the lower body. Also, there are wheel bearings on each side that gives it the ability to spin in either direction with ease allowing it to turn and reverse out of trouble areas like the steps or water line.
Over time these parts will deteriorate from use and the elements that present themselves outside daily or they may even come loose. It is always best to check not only these parts but all the other wearable parts periodically for any wear or damage that can directly affect the way the AquaNaut operates.
In conclusion, Hayward makes a great line of products and when it comes to the basic rules for taking care of your pool, keeping it clean is most often the first thing that comes to your mind. Clean pools are inviting for the likes of all. Hayward’s reliable pool cleaners provide pool owners with peace of mind and total relaxation. Cleaners vacuum and scrub the floor and coves of the pool so you don’t have to (although you still need to brush the walls from time to time).
