Hayward BUMP SHAFT (ECX1110) Key component used in Hayward D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) filters models EC65 and EC75. The bump handle assembly plays a critical role in maintaining the filter's efficiency and extending the life of its grids.
- Grid Cleaning Mechanism:
- The bump shaft is connected to the bump handle, which agitate or "bump" the D.E. filter grids.
- This bumping action loosens the accumulated debris and restores proper flow through the filter without requiring a full disassembly and cleaning.
- Filter Maintenance:
- By using the bump handle and shaft, you can redistribute the diatomaceous earth (D.E.) on the grids, which helps maintain filtration efficiency.
- This process minimizes the need for frequent backwashing or recharging the filter with fresh D.E.
- Durability:
- The bump shaft is designed to withstand repeated use and the forces exerted during the bumping process, ensuring consistent performance over time
